Canopy Gear

The canopy gear allows the door to travel in vertical tracks and is counterbalanced by an overhead torsion spring. The normal drive through is 40mm less than the opening width and 130mm less than the opening height.

In the open position, the door projects approximately one third of the door height, forming a canopy.

For doors fitted with an operator, please respect operator specifications.

The garage door is supplied factory fitted to a steel box section frame and is secured to the brickwork using just 7 fixings.

Retractable Gear

The retractable gear allows the door to be retracted inside the garage when opened by means of horizontal overhead tracks supported by wall or ceiling mounted suspension brackets. This gear is available as an option for single doors and comes as standard with double garage doors.

The nominal drive through clearance is 105mm less than the opening width and 110mm less than the opening height for single doors, and 140mm less than the opening height for double doors.

For any door up to a width of 2744mm in any of the three standard heights, Retractable Plus gear is available. This gear type creates a clear drive through width at the crucial wing mirror height.

Woodrite Up & Over Garage Doors

Clearances & Dimensions

Doors should be fitted to a Woodrite steel frame or timber goalpost type frame. Doors can be fitted within or behind the garage reveal – see the details shown.

When fitting within the reveal a 3mm gap for timber frames and 5mm gap for steel frames on all three sides should be included in the size to allow for brickwork coursing tolerances.

Door sizes represent the inside dimensions of the frame. Up and over door sizes are approximately 19mm narrower and 25mm shorter to allow for operating clearances and tolerances.

A 19mm square weather bead should always be fitted to the under-side of the door frame lintel in front of the door to hide the top gap. This feature is integral on Woodrite steel up and over frames.

Terminology
Door Size: This is the actual door panel size plus the fitting tolerances. The door size should be used for internal dimensions of a timber frame.
Size Code: This has traditionally been used to order doors. This may not be the actual door size.

Opening Arcs & Clearances Up & Over Garage Doors

A Projection in front of the opening from the door face.
B Projection into the garage from the REAR of the door and the door frame.
C Height clearance inside the garage – excluding any lock projection and deep bracing on double doors.
D Kick-up inside the garage above the bottom edge of the frame.

Cardale Up & Over Garage Doors

All doors come factory pre-framed ready for site installation, right hand door leaf leading as standard (viewed from the outside) with high security Euro profile mortice lock. Fixed leaf (LH side when viewed from outside) fitted with shoot bolts at top and bottom. The floor will need to be finished and level for the bottom shoot bolts to engage. All side hinged doors are only available opening outwards, with the lock on the right when viewed from the outside. Left hand opening available as an option. Side hinged doors are bespoke and made to order.

Cardale side hinged doors offer the following features:

• Centre overlap to help prevent forced entry and reduce draughts
• Four pairs of dog bolt security hinges
• High security Euro profile mortice lock
• Twin shoot bolts top and bottom for added security
• Stays to prevent the door opening further than 110 degrees
• All side hinged doors are supplied complete with a 50mm frame

Surface
Steel side hinged doors supplied with pre-finished white 50mm frame as standard. A range of colour options are available.
Timber side hinged doors supplied with pre-finished conker brown 50mm frame as standard. Chassis and fixing frames are supplied in Brown RAL8017. A range of stain options are available.
Handle
Supplied with high security Euro profile mortice lock on right side (viewed outside).

H1 = Internal Frame Height
H2 = Minimum Height from floor to underside of ceiling
H3 = Minimum Brickwork Opening Height
H4 = Clear Drive Through Height (Internal Hand le is the lowest point)
H5 = How far the door extends into the garage from the back of the brickwork opening
H6 = Kick Up (The height above the Internal Frame Height the door panel rises during the opening cycle)
R = The Arc of travel of the bottom edge of the door
C = The canopy (How far the door protrudes from the frame front)
Note:- The Kick up is greater than the frame Lintel Height and peaks above the Lintel at 1100mm into the garage from the frame front

Wessex Up & Over Garage Doors

All doors come factory pre-framed ready for site installation, right hand door leaf leading as standard (viewed from the outside) with lever handle set. Fixed leaf (LH side when viewed from outside) fitted with shoot latch bolts at top and bottom of inner leading edge. The floor will need to be finished and level for the bottom bolts to engage.

Every door is built onto a steel chassis that provides a neat edge to the door panels and gives the door strength and rigidity. The chassis is available in white, brown or black (frames are also available to match). Side hinged doors have a black lever handle that operates a locking latch to the active leaf, whilst the inactive leaf is secured by a shoot latch bolt. The rear face of the Platinum side hinged doors is white as standard or brown as an optional extra, with the chassis in white, brown or black.

Side-hinged doors are supplied with a pre-fitted steel frame that provides simple installation and a stable platform for door operation. Frame uprights are 60mm wide as standard and the head is 60mm high. Frames have an exterior powder coating available in white, brown, or black.

Surface
GRP side-hinged doors are constructed around a strong steel box section chassis White doors will come on a white chassis, ebony woodgrain doors on black chassis and all other woodgrain colours on brown chassis. Red, Green an Blue colours and Coastal colours on a white or black chassis.
Handle
Supplied with black lever handle on right side (viewed outside). The handle will be positioned approximately central to the active door leaf edge, this may vary dependent on door style and/or door feature position.
